3500 OEM Wheels

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to swap the 5-hole painted steel wheels on my '04 K2500HD WT for the 6-hole painted steel wheels that come standard on the '04/'05 3500 SRW. I don't need a higher capacity wheel: it's for cosmetic reasons only.

The 5-hole wheel is the same tired wheel that's on every Astro, Express, Silverado 1500, and Sierra 1500 Work and Base model I see everywhere. I prefer the more substantial look of the 6-hole wheel, especially with a chrome center cap. A minor difference, I know, but a 2500HD should have a different wheel than a 1500.

I will not pay dealer list. And I haven't seen any sets for sale on Ebay either, as so few of these 3500 SRWs were sold.

Finally, does anyone have the GM part and RPO numbers for these wheels? And what does GM use for OE tires? I know the size is 265/75/16E.

Does anyone have a new (or newish) set of these wheels for sale?

Thank you.

Sorry, I don't have a set but I did pretty much the same thing that you're looking to do. I swapped the forged aluminum wheels that came on my 05 for a set of the painted steel 3500 SRW wheels. When the truck came in, the dealer swapped on the steelies and bought my PYOs for $400 plus $200 for the stock 245 tires. Not too bad . I like the look a lot better, especially with the new Bridgestone Revo 265/75s 'e'. The forged wheels were always a little too bling bling for me. I like it a little more understated. Anyway, have you tried your local dealer to see if they have any that they may be willing to part with? You never know.

Glad your swap worked out. I'll try some local dealers. What if any recalibration had to be performed on your truck when you went up to the 265s?

Thanks...

I have not recalibrated the speedo - although the dealer told me that they had the capability to recalibrate the PCM at the dealership (up to 265/75) since that is what the 3500s come with stock. Apparently, they can't adjust for anything larger. I have not noticed any difference in the speedo myself but to be fair, I've only got 700 miles on the truck so I'm still getting used to it. The 265s look A LOT better and seem to ride better. I did not have to trim anything & they fit great. On my old truck (03) I had 33" 255/85s & while they looked awesome, I lost turning radius and low end. The 265s are much better. With the 8.1 and 6 speed, I did not notice any loss of power  FWIW - I am having some trouble keeping my 265 Revos balanced but I'm sure it's the tires & not the wheels.

Thanks, 265s are the way I'm going to go. The OE Bridgestone V-Steels are a summer tire, as I discovered in the Blizzard of '05. Looking at BFG Commercial T/A Tractions right now. Your 8.1/ZF combo sounds great. No sticks to be found anywhere when I made my purchase in January. I considered ordering on '05, but instead settled for the last '04 the dealer had in stock: the discount was unreal and I couldn't say no.

I'll let you know how it all works out!
