Tire Disposal 101

Well, I got new tires a few months ago and have spent many a sleepless night pondering what to do with my stock tires. In the end I decided that some of the roads around town could use a little re-surfacing so I put em to good use. When I purchased the new (to me) tires, they came mounted on a set of wheels exactly like mine so swapping the rear tires out for the old ones this Saturday was a simple matter of rolling them out of the shed, putting a jack under the rear end, and handing the impact wrench to Will (fastdrvr23, who also did the filming btw) and telling him to get busy! Just kidding ... I helped too! :D

Anyway, I've put together a little video from the clips and pics he took. The video is about 7.5 MB ... my apologies to those of you with dial-up.

Looking back, I actually wish I'd have been a bit rougher on em. I had no idea how hard that rubber is on those things (which would explain the extreme lack of traction I experienced that led me to purchase a new set of tires in the first place). After 7 or 8 burnouts, it didn't do nearly as much damage to the tires as I expected. Oh well ... guess they lived to be thrashed another day!

Yeah, that was crazy. I was hoping Jarod's g/f would change the tires, but I figured if I asked I would get hit in the head with a lug wrench or something.

I couldn't even talk while I was trying to film, from all the dang laughing.

It's too bad I didn't have a video camera when I was younger, because its hillarious to me now, and I'm old!

What's sad, is that I only filmed about half of it. lol

I don't have the b*lls to do that with my truck...

It probably doesn't have enough power to do it like that anyway.

But it's cool to watch somebody else have some fun. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent job on the video.

LOL, well it might be a little tough with those 285's you've got but I'm sure you could do it. It was really sad how easy it was to break the tires loose on dry pavement. GM obivously provides some quality tires on their vehicles ...

Nice lookin truck and audio setup BTW! :D And glad ya liked the video!

Those things were like apple peels. Between how slick they were, and how hard the rubber was, I'm surprised you ever got moving at all. How in the heck did you ever drive in the rain before?

It's a good thing I didn't think about pouring a little bleach water on them... :D

I'd like to have seen how it would act without the Wester's tune too, I can barely remember mine before it. It would be cool just to see how much of a difference T.M. would have made when you tried to start...
