Programmer/Fuel

Recommended Posts

I have been considering getting a custom tune for my truck. I have been tossing either the Westers or the Predator around. I think I have it narrowed down to the predator.

Question I have is will the Predator run good with 87 or 89 octane, or does it require 91/93 octane.

I'm not for sure because I don't have one. I think though that the Predator works like a Hypertech and is programmable to your own settings. This meaning you can probably choose which tune to run depending on what fuel you are running.

If you do go with the Predator, just make sure that it

is the latest version around. The new versions allow

you to delete a fair amount of torque management

put in place at the factory, and that will definitely wake your

truck up.!! :chevy:

with the name GMC6000 I assume you have the vortec 6.0L? If you have the 6.0 or the 8.1 the Predator has an actual 87 tune in the device. Then you also have the Permance tune in the device. If you want you can even just customize the factory tune to do what you want. Also all of the tunes in the device can be customized. You can even download a tune that they design for you and install it.

The predator is a neat tool. I have one for my 03 and think it's great. As far as 91/93 goes, if you want the full effect you have to run the 93 and adjust the timing and fuel to fine tune.(mine are maxed)

The 87 tune is alright, but tuning is a little more critical cause you can make it ping quick on cheap gas. The TQ managment removal is noticable also. All and all it's a neat tool. if you have any specific question ask or pm me. I'd be happy to help.
