MORE Torque for the Duramax

Recommended Posts

The Duramax Diesel jumps up to 620 ft lbs of torque and you guys can check it out the vehicle info for 06, it displays all the things new for 06! Now i wonder how much Horsepower its pushing, also a 6 speed Allison is also available along with the Duramax. :D

Let the torque wars begin haha. I hate to say it but I am a Cummins guy and to be honest it wont surprise me if they jump the cummins to 630ft lbs for 06. Just think guys, in like 5 years our trucks will be coming from the factory with 700+ ft lbs and 400+hp haha!

I can't remember if its 625, or 635 for TQ in the 06 Cummins. And I really don't remember what the HP was going to be, but it was gonna go up. I think I remember someone sayin 345, because that was the HP number for the 5.7 Hemi. But people were talking about how odd it was to have an increase of 20 in the TQ numbers and HP numbers in a diesel, ....So I really don't know the exact hp number.

Supposivly the Cummins has plenty in reserve for them to bump up to keep them ahead in the HP/TQ wars for a while. The tranny behind the Cummins is rated as it stands right now capable of handeling 900 TQ. So the current setup for the Cummins, is setup to be improved little by little, so they can keep there claims as most powerful truck.

I work at a dodge dealership and from what I understand all the power programmers and whatnot that are out for the newer cummins don't even release all the power the truck can make in the form it comes from the factory. Honestly they seem to have the diesel truck market in there hands for the next long while.

Yeah I can't wait untill I can afford a diesel in a couple of years. I'm shootin to get one in 08 or 09. Maybe these HP wars will of have pushed them past 400hp, and 800tq stock, by the time I can afford one.

My problem is that whenever I save enough to get one,the price goes up again! :D

I guess they figure...they up the HP & TQ....they up the price too!

This is the information GMC shows for the 2006 3500. I don't know if it just hasn't been updated or not, but it still says for 2006 that the Duramax will have 310 HP and 605 lb-ft. It also says the Allison 6 speeds torque capacity is 620 lb-ft so I doubt they would give the Duramax exactly 620 lb-ft if thats the max the tranny will handle. But then again, maybe it just isn't updated.
