Next generation Silverado/Sierra

Recommended Posts

If you like the exterior vertical body lines of a 1970 through 1980 Dodge truck you will like the GMT900. That is what it reminds me of. The grill looks better than the 03’-06’s. Don’t expect any drastic changes to the drivetrain except a bump in HP and torque numbers across the line. 4.3L V6 is planned to go away. The interior, especially the rounded instrument cluster and dash, is a joke and looks like a Geo Metro’s big brother. Well, I guess it is in a way. GM is rushing the GMT900 to market so quickly all you can expect to see is sheet metal and new interiors.

IRS will be an option but probably not in 07’. Here is a teaser pic that GM put out on Weick a while back of a GMT800 with IRS. I bet nobody noticed it had IRS either. Leave it to GM to even consider IRS on a truck.

Not a teaser at all. This is a specialized, proprietary military version, not meant for the consumer, designed for lord-knows-what-for-the-military, as per their bid. It was announced in early April and several photos were released of which the one above is represented.

This truck has noting to do with the 2007 models.

GSA does spec weird stuff but Joe consumer can expect to order it on 09 MY retail trucks. I guess one hoeky rear offering (Quadrasteer) for another (IRS).

Does anyone have any idea when the next generation Silverado/Sierra is going to be introduced?

Last I heard, somewhere else in this forum, was that GM was moving all the intro dates forward, so the 2006 model year might only be a 1/2 year.

So if you're planning to buy in '06, you should time your purchase right around the actual release of the new model to the showroom floor. If you buy *then*, you can decide whether they made the truck better, or made it worse. Becuase at that point, you'll still be able to pick among a good selection of '06's.

Pffft.

All the mods and admins here have been driving our next gen. trucks for months now.

You're all going to be very impressed.

I hope you're right. I just want bigger wheel wells and bigger rims (8" wide) to fit 33's or even 35's on factory rims with no lifting or trimming. 17" standard and 18" optional.

And a frame that doesn't show so much.

Make the truck about 2-3" taller also.

My question is will GM be offering a new HD in 07, or will the do like before and run the old body style for the HD?  I am going to be in the market soon for a new fullsize so the GMT900 may be an option or Ill get a new 06 GMC.

It is safe to say HD’s will be later. How much later?….a month, one or two consensus periods, a model year, I don’t know. Seen nothing but 1500's.

I doubt that Wingnut. A little too soon to be inviting media.

The trucks will be sold as 2007, sold sometime in 2006. The body is not like what we see now, it is completely different. Interior is changing as well. Basically it's a NEW truck from ground up. I do not know about a different launch date for the HD's I just know that the SUV's, and Trucks are going to this new body style.

Did some snoopin here, it looks like the doors will be tall and flat, reminds me of a F**d in ways. Windshied is raked back, less vertical than current and is more forward in the truck (D**ge like). Overall it seems to sit high off the ground.

After recent trends in GM to keep its brands looking alike, I would expect the front end to look like the new Vans and Trailblazers. BIG bowtie and wide chrome/body color grill.
