What's the verdict????

Recommended Posts

Big disscussion on veraram cold air induction a few months back. So what is the verdict on this product? They advertise a 35% increase in HP and 2-3 mpg better. I am going to be purchacing a cold air kit and would like some feedback on people who have the veraram.

thanks in advance

Jim

I absolutely loved mine, though I did remove it because the wife drives my truck quite often now and I didn't want to take a chance of her getting it into water high enough to bring it in through the ram air abbembly. It's now on a friend of mine's 6.0 HD and he won't go to a different intake or back to stock unless warranty dictates it as being necessary.

If you get one, you will notice a very good increase in performance. I did not see the 3+ mpg gain that they claim but I was getting over 1.5 mpg better than I get with the stock intake. The fit and finish is a little questionable but once it's together properly it doesn't look bad and I was going more for functionality anyway.

FYI I just got the new Verision the other day. Install on tuesday and notice an improvement over the Napa Gold filter I had in the truck. With the napa I had a dead spot in the throttle, but nothing got by it.

The new system has a K&N type filter. Not that cheap foam thing. The air box is much bigger too to fit this. I think it is a 1000x better than the frist systems out.

I was hitting 15MPG+ with a 6.0L 4x4 CC LB. Lots of city driving and I will still get 13+... If you have any questions feel free to ask but I am on vacation starting tomrrow... I will get back to you as soon as I get back. I have not run a full tank through with the new system so I don't know if there are any improvements in MPG, but in the filtering of the air is much better than the old system.

Thanks for the input! I am also going on vacation. Would like to hear your experience with it after you have driven with it for a few weeks. Also do you think the K&N filter solved the problem with the old filter or is just a so so fix?

Id love to know about the new filter. I took mine off because I didnt trust the foam filter.

It would be great if you could get us pics of the new set up.

It would be awesome if Vara Ram would buy back the old system or at least give us some credit towards a new one but I wont hold my breath.

SxViper,

Do you have the stock number on that K &N filter that came with the system? I've got the old system and have some concerns with the foam filter.

The system that had the foam air filter will not fit the new filter in it. The air box is bigger then the orginal to fit this new air filter. I will try and find my digital camera this week and take some pics. I will be going up to the mountains to pick up my sled trailer from storage this weekend. That is the longest drive I do with this truck so I will see how the preformance is and MPG. This will also test how it works with 5,000-6,000 pounds of trailer behind it. Trailer is a 27ft x 8.5ft full stand up snowmobile trailer. So its not small and kills MPG down to 10 without the air intake.

I am about 99-100% sure the K&N look a like filter fixed the problem. Its the same filter they use in a lot of other air in take systems.
