weight in empty truck bed

Recommended Posts

History...

I have a 2003 HD D/A. I put the green keys in to level it out and the ride degraded. Swapped to stock length adjustable rancho 9000s, a little better but still not good and I think I brok a shock when it topped out going over larger bumps. rTied my own custom shock mounts to get the ranchos in the right location, still no good. Finally got my hands on the 2" bilstein 5100 series and some longer bump stops and the ride is much better. You can really tell the difference in the quality and ride of the bilstiens. I highly recommend the bilsteins, whether your lifted.

The issue...

I kept the adjustable ranchos in back becasue I tow a 7500lb race trailer and stiffening the rear shocks helps the ride (although I haven't tried it with the bilsteins up front yet).

Is the general concesus that putting some weight in the bed will improve the ride? What are you guys doing to solve this issue? I'm interested in creative solutions, something that can be easilly removed when needed.

How much weight are you guys putting in?

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks

A few hundred lbs in the back will help...

Also what tire pressure are you running in the rears when empty? You can easily get away with 5-10 psi "Less" then what you run in the fronts...

I'm currently running 5 psi less in my rears than I do in the front, and I have the additional weight of a fiberglass topper/cap sitting on my bedrails.

I run about 40 PSI all the way around on my H2 BFGs
