I finally figured how to upload pics and use this thing, I think! The grill guard may look familiar to at least one of you, lrymal. Still working on other upgrades and additions. I must say that I have learned alot while lurking on this site. Keep up the good work. :withstupid:

Irymal or fgtex

not sure if this is hijacking as they say but:

I've been looking for a brush guard for the past 6 months and I finally seen one that caught my eye. It contoured nicely to the 04 Silverado, but wait a minute..........as I look closer at Irymal's brush guard(which I've seen every time I read a post by Irymal) ITS THE SAME D@M ONE.......... :driving: Except the one I seen had some chrome.

The question is, for either one of you two, what make/brand is it?

Thanks

:withstupid:

HEH....... I'm kinda playing with everyone's mind. It is a TrailBoss and offers great protection for the radiator. I no longer have it and fgtex is sporting it on his nice black truck.

You can get this guard in chrome as well, about $100/more. Prices range from about $350 - $550 for the powder-coated black guard, depending on your vendor.

Anyway, I no longer have a grill on my truck's nose. I think I need to update the .sig file and will do so sometime this week.

I must say that I am liking it. I will see in a few days how it affects my gas mileage. I am thinking that it will not improve it! :withstupid: I need to find the Chevy bowtie to go in the middle to add some color.

You need to now go chase a road deer! My '03's first grill (Manik) tangled with a road deer. The Manik doesn't offer radiator grill protection and the truck and deer kissed at over 70 mph! "Stuff" when flying everywhere.

The deer carcass warped the grill guard in such a major way, it was difficult to remove it, and the billet grill I had underneath was totally smashed. Part of the deer's carcass rested in front of the radiator and what was left of the Manik, and I had to drive through Lufkin with the remains of this creature still attached. UGH...

Try this guy on eBay, if you elect not to paint your own. This is a decal. He has been selling these on eBay for a couple of years. Vinyl stick on. Spray it with several light coats of clear coat to protect against chips and rocks.

You will need to replace this once a year or so. No biggie---its cheap.

The better Texas bowtie would be painted. Easy to do. Hardest part is finding a star cutout which you can use as a paint block. Just three colors. I've been wanting to build the "ultimate" Texas bowtie. It would by removing the GOLD paint that is INSIDE the bowtie so the bowtie is now clear, then painting a Texas flag inside. The clear plastic over the Texas flag would possibly look really neat.
