Anyone with painted bowties?

Howdy.

Over at the Avalanche site, the most common mod (other than ambers) is a painted front grille bowtie. I have never seen it discussed on this site, tho.

 

I painted mine last week whilst I had the fan shroud off installing my new grille insert.

What a difference it makes in the front end! I got some duplicolor "touch-up" in the rattle can at Wallyworld. Sanded the bowtie, shot about 5 coats of color on and then 3 coats of clear, and viola, a bowtie that matches the trucks paint. Have enough paint/clear left over to redo every year if needed. All that is needed is a flat head screwdriver (to pop the shroud fasteners) and a 10mm deep socket (to take off the bowtie itself).

I am no way affiliated with the member or the site (hell, I painted my own), but it really is a lot of mod for the money and time spent.

Cool, did you make a pattern for the star so as to mask off the blue spray-on paint to form the star?
