How rare is my panel?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I've got a 70 chevy panel. It belonged to my wife's grandpa and he used it as a work truck from 70 till 94. original 307 with over 400,000 miles on it's 2nd rebuild still runs. Bodies rough because it sat in a field and the grass wicked moister up to the rockers so they have had it bad. The wood in the bed floor is still extremely soild. So, how rare is she?

I will have to look up the production numbers but 1970 was the last year they made the panel trucks. It was also the year that they made the most of them. The most rare panel is the 67 4x4 with only 30 produced. Is it 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton and 2wd or 4x4? And what are your plans for it?

An old windowless burb! I had a 1970 4x4 3 door burb with a 350 4bbl and automatic and a NP205 in the mid 70's for a few years before I sold it to a guy moving to Maine. It was a tank and primative by today standards and 4x4 models like that were extremely rare back then too. I cammed it up and put a torker intake on it with true quiet factor style duals and that sucker ran for what it was and looked stock until you raised the hood and surprized a lot of people when you stepped into it. I had a lot of fun with that truck! Find you a 396 to put in there (it will bolt it) if you want to have some fun and make a sleeper out of it!

It's so crazy that you said a 396 because that's what will be going in it. My uncle has one and it will be destroked to light the touch abit more. The panel is more speed than I would have thought. The original 307 is still in it and runs alright, she still sprints to a top speed of 30mph pretty quick. ( the th350 is screwed and wont shift into any gear other than first.) I feel I need to explain the writing on the truck, my son wanted me to put peoples names on it while we were spraying so candy samples on it with an airbrush. Cole will be it's owner in the end. Anybody bagged one of these? Will it lay frame without destroying body parts?
