Running board lights

Recommended Posts

Anyone know what fuse is used for the running board lights? I spent a half hour last night trying to figure it out before I decided to abandon ship. Not sure if the fuse is the problem, but before I bring it into the dealer for warranty work I'd like to eliminate that option.

Running board lights?

These are not factory equipment, so you'll have to do some poking around to find how they are wired.

There is nothing else that doesn't work on the truck?

Usually the running light fuse will be used, I'd check the trailer running light fuse as well.

Hope this helps.

We are putting a set of Westin Lighted Running boards on

my relatives 03 Chevy 2500 HD Crew Cab.8.1 Ally

The directions are really vague as to where to wire them into the

interior lights near the fuse box, so has anyone done this or have any suggestions?

I cant even find a wiring diagram for colors or anything for this truck. Kragen and Auto Zone both said that they dont even think Chilton or anyone like that makes a repair manual for the HD's(which most manuals have a Wire diagram in them.

I put a set of lighted step pads on the GoRhino steps that I had on my Trailblazer. The instructions for what circuit / wiring to tie into was just as vague as you say those Westins are so I paid a 4x4 shop to do the wiring part for me.

The shop tied into the courtousy lighting using the door switch (what the worker told me). I didn't trace the wiring to see that actual connection though. What is funny is that he said he used to work for a dealership which is why he did the job in the first place, and that I was the first he'd seen doing this to a Trailblazer.

After he finished the job and I was talking to him about it he also swore he'd never do another one because of the headache of finding a suitable spot to tie into the electrical system. Evidently late model GMs are convoluted with all the electronic control of the various systems throughout the vehicle.
