Strong wheels

Recommended Posts

Looking for new wheels in 16x8 to fit the HD as close to stock dimensions as possible. Who makes really strong ones? Steel or aluminum does not matter but I don't really go for the bling look too much. All the ones I am seeing list around 3200lbs. I'm hoping to get into the 3500 - 3800 range WITHOUT laying out the cash for 19.5s.

I have seen Eagle Alloys list some weight ratings around #3450. Are Eagles a good quality/reputable brand?

Thanks

I have been looking into wheels and tires which can carry more weight.I plan to add a truck camper soon.I need a wider tire for beach camping.I have found that Alcoa makes a wheel 16x7 that is rated at 3750@110psi.(pn#167041).I think they also have 16x8 wheels. What I like about these is that they are $152 each.I am probally only to move up to 265/75/16 tires.Anyway if you go to southwestwheel.com and look up your truck you can check these out. :seeya:

Tomm - I like the idea of Alcoas in 16x8. They would look especially sweet with Toyo M55s in 285s (which are 'E' rated at 3700LBS each !!) BUT the Alcoas that I have seen with our bolt pattern are stud-centered and not hub-centered like our trucks & I don't want to chance any balancing issues.

BTW - What truck camper do you have? I just picked up a new Northstar 850SC & so far I'm diggin it! Check out rv.net if you haven't already.

Forged Aluminum would be your best bet.

The GVWR for your truck is 9,200 lbs so wheels with a 3,000lb rating should be fine.

Can't remember what the stock ones are rated at.
