auto-up windows in Silverado

my new Silverado has the one-touch down windows, but I want to be able to make them go up, too. I know GM has the technology for this -- my brother's Saab has it and I'm pretty sure Escalades/Denalis have it too.

 

does anybody know if there's a way to rig the switches or if another kind will swap in?

NOPE.... no can do. Indeed, the letigation lawyers required GM to reverse the design of the power window buttons in 2003 and upwards because of children allegedly getting injured by power windows moving when they crawled/leaned, ad nausem on the buttons.

 

I am amazed that such an automaic feature (up) exists due to the potential lawsuits. I'm sure a safety switch would stop the auto-up if Little Joey sticks his head out the window as the window goes up, but ooooo, what if that safety switch fails.

The police tahoe's around here have that feature but only on the drivers door switches (works all windows but only from the drivers door) I believe it is programming of the DDM (drivers door module) that makes it possible. I doubt you would be able to have that done to a civilian model without the proper codes.

so in theory i should just try to find a dealer technician that knows how to do this and ask him to do it on the sly....

good luck, the codes must come from GM and I can't say if any of the parts may be different like the DDM or the window motors since the BCM (body control module) must communicate with both parts to sence the activity being performed.

 

I tried to get a tech friend to do something for me (remove the speed limiter) and he needed the proper documents for the reason to do this before GM would provide the programming codes to to it. (again the police vehicles have this speed limiter set to 121 instead of 100 +/- a few) Needless to say my speed limiter is still set at the factory setting.
