GM enhanced mobility package

I have ordered my Monroe reflex shocks for 04 GMC 2500 HD 4x4 CC and had posted a couple of weeks ago about installing these myself without having to jack the truck up...basically a driveway job on the ground. I had several replies that stated it was not a big deal and no problem with it being on the ground.

While searching the web, I came across a GM Enhanced Mobility package that in one section gave instructions on how to replace front and rear shock absorbers.

For the front, it stated....raise and support the vehicle and support the lower control arm and the replacement shocks should have a suspension cutoff in the shock and must not be longer than the OEM when fully extended.

I do not know if this pdf file covered cars or trucks, but I just wanted to make sure that if I needed to support the control arm and had to raise the truck, that I would do it and that the Monroe Reflex would meet or exceed the standard of the OEM shocks.

Thanks

That most likely applies to vehicle whose suspensions use the shock absorbers as travel limiters. Take cars with rear coils, if you remove the shock the car could lose it's springs on a big bounce as the axle would swing far enough away from the body to dislodge them.

These trucks aren't built so flimsy. Shocks are suspension travel dampeners in our case. True they may limit travel on paper but it's not as dangerous as in passenger car applications if they are too long. Look at raised trucks, they have to use longer shocks to keep from topping them out.
