My 01 2500HD 6.0 always seems to run right under 210F. Im thinking it has a 195 in it, and its running somewhere near 200F. I know its not horrible, but Ive been thinking about putting in a 180 and seeing what it does. Any problem with that?

Where is the darn thing? Im not seeing its location.

A cooler stat wont do anything unless you have a tune to go with it. The stat is on the water pump housing on the pass. side of the motor.

How does a tune affect the opening of the t-stat?

It doesn't. However, a tune will be able to take advantage of a cooler engine, with cooler intake temperatures.

I think I'd be looking at a fan clutch if my engine was running a little hotter than normal. Also, check the radiator for any junk that might be trapped in it (inside or out).
