Do I need to disconnect both batteries?

I've always removed the battery's neg. cable before working on an electrical component. On my new truck I have the auxillary battery option (TP2). I need to know if I need to remove BOTH neg. cables before working on the truck, or just the neg. cable from the primary battery.?

Thanks, DEWFPO

I aways remove both pos + , just incase the neg - hits metal. But thats me.

That doesn't really make sense. If the negative cables are disconnected from the battery(ies) it wouldn't matter if the cable hits metal.

But yes, do disconnect both batteries. From the factory they are wired in parrallel and either one will power most items.

If you have a battery isolator, and solenoid between your primary and secondary batteries, then you probably don't have to disconnect both.

But, with that being said, I think I'd still disconenct both of them just in case you short a secondary circuit to ground. :withstupid: And I work on live circuits all the time! Guess I'm just anal about something that can weld your screwdriver to the frame in an instant, or melt all the insulation off your battery cable instantly! Be safe...
