Anyone have a locker???

Recommended Posts

Is anyone running a locker? I've been thinking about getting one. I'm tired of having to put my truck into 4wd just to get off a thin sheet of ice due to one wheel spin. I want to make sure I can still take turns with no problem, and drive it on the highway with no problem. I've read pretty good reviews on Detroit's E-Z locker. Thanks :ughdance:

I have an Auburn Pro limited slip in mine and it works great (only in rear cuz mine is 2wd). Good traction and very well behaved on the road. The detroit's in my old jeep used to annoy the crap out of me on the road. Big driver in my decision to go for the limited slip over the locker.

Does your Auburn pro limited slip allow both tires to spin when you need them to? How is it different from factory limited slip?

factory(eaton) locker in the truck works great for what i need and quiet operation not harsh or anything

car- detroit locker absolutly love it :ughdance: posi every time i need it. other than moving around in parking lots or backing up while turning you will hear the ratchiting all in what you can live with. some people will look at you but you know its susspose to make that noise and will not let ya down. some may consider it a little to much for a daily driver . personal preference if you ask me

Mine has a bit more friction than the eaton, but it is still a limited slip. If you are up to your windows in mud, the detroits would kick ass and I would be standing on my hood with a yank strap in my hand. Fortunately, I have not seen window high mud since trading my jeep.

I have a Powertrax No-slip locker that's smoother than the Detroit EZ Locker. Its touchy and I would only recomend it for something with a long wheelbase... shortbeds and reg cabs would probably be terrible with this. It drives 2 all the time, but it'll let the outside wheel accelerate in a turn; thus the inner wheel is powered in a turn.... when you stomp it in a turn it'll spin the inner to meet the outer then roast both sides at the same speed. It causes a lot of sideslip if you pull trailer in the mud but I like it because you have the best chance of pulling straight through a bad spot when both are locked together off the bat. I don't want one tire to spin to force it to lock.

The Detroit EZ locker is almost identical to the Powertrax Lock-Rite locker which is what you were interested in; HOWEVER----> It's clicky and NOT ideal for highway use, but the powertrax NO-SLIP traction system is.

Powertrax is made by richmond gear. Its silent, very predictable when you get used to it, easy to install yourself, and best bang for the buck IMO.

I paid under $400 shipped.
