Yet another lift question

Recommended Posts

The more I read about lifts, the more confused I become. I would like to raise my truck to comfortably clear 315's on 16" tires. I am not against a 6" lift but it may be more than I need. 98% of my driving is highway/city but during hunting season I do moderate to heavy offroading and towing. I am trying to coordinate buying a lift/tires/rims at the same time. Of course price is a consideration, however quality, safety and wear and tear of components are at the top of the list. Just when I think I have it figured out, another thread comes along and I go back to square one. I drive an '02 GMC Sierra 1500HD Crew Cab 4X4 with a 4.10 rear end. Thanks for any input. :withstupid:

If you want something smaller than a 6" kit, check out a Rancho 4". To attest to their quality/safety/wear, you can buy a brand new warrantied truck from the dealer with this lift. They are called "Rebel" or "Outlaw" models and are similar to conversion vans (i.e. shipped from the factory to a customizer then sold by a dealer). The only thing with this kit is that I have not seen listings for the 1500HD, it only says 2500HD. I am not sure as to the differences between the two, but I would call Rancho directly and ask.

For a 6", there are a whole lot of companies who make them and brand loyality is almost as fierce as it is with the trucks themselves. In my opinion Skyjacker is one of the best 4x4 suspensions, and you can get rear springs instead of blocks with their kits. They make their kits super-easy to install and the instructions are very detailed. Very safe/high quality/made is USA

As to whether or not you need 6", it is personal preference. If you don't like a lot of space in the wheel well, go for a 4". If you want it bigger, go for the 6". I would search for some pics online to decide which look you like better. As far as fittment is concerned, both should be fine.
