Driver side mirror will not heat

Recommended Posts

Ok so its snowing and my truck is covered so I figure why brush it off maybe Ill use that heated mirrow and window feature which I hardly ever use. So I start driving and my rear window melts and so does my passenger side mirror, but the driver mirror is still snow covered. So I push the button again once it goes off and still nothing on the drivers side. I get home about 20min later and still hasnt melted. Didnt have time to look at it tonight but what should I check for? It just seems odd that the passenger side works but not the driver side. If the mirror is bad how much should I expect a new glass with heater element to run me? And for the heck of it, could I upgrade to the heated mirrors with the LED turns in them? Will LED turn mirrors plug into my 2001? Thanks in advance for any info.

Well I checked the fuse.....it was good.... and I try it again today, driver side still doesnt work. How do you remove the mirror glass to get to the heater connections, I can see them when I move the mirror face around but I cant get to them with a meter. I guess I better start lookin for a mirror to replace it.

You'll need a new mirror glass. We have changed a couple dozen already this year, it's too common.

You can remove the mirror glass by pushing it by hand all the way angled down. Then, using a hook or something fairly small with a 90 degree bend, unhook the small tabs at the top of the mirror. Continue "pulling" down on the mirror gently while doing this. If it breaks, no real big deal, you need a new one anyway.

Hope this helps.
