Instrument cluster failure

This is the first winter I have experienced this problem. 2003 2500 HD 4x4 8.1 Allison. In Dec 04 the temp was about 35 and everything seemed O.K. I was at a customers place and when I went to leave upon starting my truck the speedo spiked then instantly came back down to 30mph and stayed there while I was not moving. When I drove it read about +30 mph. The next couple days the temp dropped to about 10 degrees and when I started the truck the whole cluster quit. Nothing worked. I got the owners manual out and found a location for the IPC/DIC fuse. By the way the DIC with steering wheel control still worked. Pulled the fuse and it was good. Put it back in and the cluster worked. The speedo was still messed up but the other gages worked. Went to the dealer and explained all this. They found the cluster was bad. Put in a new one. Today a month later the temp drops again to single digits and the cluster craps again. I pull the fuse and put it back in and everything works. O.K. the cold weather must be shutting something down and by pulling the fuse and putting it back in I am resetting it ???????????? I will call the dealer again tomorrow. Does anybody have any idea what the heck is going on.

sounds like to me it is a good excuse to move to Florida. :-)

We're starting to see a lot of cluster failures in the full sized trucks lately, and I AM in Florida!

We must not be the only ones because it currently takes several weeks to get a replacement cluster or parts to fix the cluster.
