Is there any aftermarket remote starter that uses your factory remote?

While I have seen some that operate off the factory remote, I would offer this suggestion to you: One of the features of a good quality remote starter is that it will offer longer range than the factory remotes(you can operate the new remote from farther away).

Adding door locks, interior lights, etc. is just a matter of adding either an interface made specifically for you vehicle, or using a number of relays to operate the extra functions.

Having installed literally hundreds of remote starts, I always recommend anything made by DEI, Directed Electronics. They have various "sub" brands, (My Valet, Valet, Viper, Black Widow to name the bigger ones). Lifetime warranty if installed by MECP Certified installers, and with some of the upper level units, incredible range and features. Imagine the husband points I got the first time SWMBO started her car from the fourth floor window of the hospital where she works, and 1/2" of ice and snow was melted off by the time she changed clothes and walked across the parking lot. Accessory button on the remote had also turned on the seat heaters and rear window defrost...she hopeed into a warm truck and drove home!

Thanks OnBelay...

Okay.. I'm sold.  I can deal with an aftermarket remote..

So, given your experience, which would you recommend?

2003 Duramax.  I like the ability to initiate the high idle with an aux 12v output.

If you find a good one for your Durmax, please let me know. I have a 2003 Sierra Duramax as well and would like to add one sometime. I don't have the high idle tweak tho.
