Lifted Yukon?

Recommended Posts

Long story, so bear with me...

Originally 6" Pro Comp lift (4 inch blocks and add-a-leaf in the rear). Originally, the lift was only about 5 inches total until I changed blocks. I wanted it a little higher, since the 4-door sits low in the back due to the extra weight of the glass, roof, etc. And the 4 door Yukon is already lower than the pickup and Suburban due to body mounts. So, I bought a 5 inch block and cranked the front a little to match. This led to needing a longer driveshaft.

So a few years later, I decide that I don't like the tall blocks (hopping ride, axle wrap), so I want Pro Comp traction bars. While it is apart, I think about new springs. So now it has 6 inch Skyjacker springs and a 2 inch block, which make about 7 inches of lift (again the weight in the rear prevents a full 6 inches from the springs). Another driveshaft needed since the springs have a mount farther forward (shorter driveshaft).

So in the picture is 6 inch Pro Comp front, 6 inch Skyjacker springs and 2 inch block in the rear. The front is just a bit nose low (what I wanted). The tires in the picture are 295/75r16 BFG A/T's. I now have 305/70r16 BFG M/T's.

One note for the 4 door Yukon/Tahoe. Since it already sits lower than a pickup or Suburban, a 4 inch lift does very little. A 6 inch lift is about 5 inches and can be modified up to 7, but the 4 inch lift stays at 4 inches and barely fits 285/r16 tires. It looks almost stock. Go 6 inch lift, since it can be a little lower closer to 5, or a little higher closer to 7.

Here is a picture with the original Pro Comp 6 inch lift and 285/75r16 tires. Since the 4 door is lower, it doesn't look like a 6 inch lift, does it? See how low the rear is? A 4 inch lift would be even lower.
