DMAX NO POWER

Recommended Posts

Ok so I bought an 03 d max crew used.

went to drive it up the hill from phoenix and I lost power would not go over 6o MPH

No engine lights no warnings of water in fuel nothing.

It would hit the rev at 3 grand and just sit there no power just slow down.

You could gain speed if you get in the throttle slowly.

So disapointed called the dealer and they started saying injectors.

So just talking to freinds of freinds I changed the fuel filter and It came alive. All the power I ever wanted.

So the reason for this post is. Ok so theres a little toilet bowl plunger in the bottom

of your filter and a wire to let you know there is water in your fuel. Ok so GM was thinking there. The warning light on the dash comes on before you suck the water in the motor. Great Idea Gm.

But I dont work for NASA so call me stupid If I ask why there is not a pressure regulator before the filter and after the filter. If the are not reasonably the same. It should tell you.

So I wonder how many Injectors are changed since that is the problem with most DMAXES. And when they change them change the filter naturally. ( I WOULD)

So what Im saying is if you loose power and no warning lights it might just be your filter. I have an extra in my truck and the correct filter wrench.

Its a pain to get it loose and get it out.

So buy the wrench and filter and put it under the seat for a rainy day.

One bad batch of fuel and on your way to Glamis Dunes in the middle of no were.

Just a warning for everyone.

By the way I said the power was great after this but once I put the JUICE ATTITUDE in your in for a big surprise. BIG Hpr.

Ill beat you all to the dunes for Easter.

I missed your point here. Can you clarify?

Just a quick note that fuel is sucked through the filter, it's not pushed through by a pump on the tank side.

GM tech

I am surprised that you dont get my point here.

It dose not matter weather you push it pull it through the lines.

Ok so not a pressure switch how abought a flow meter. Dose this help you.

This pisses me off. I give a post and I get someone arguing weather the fuel is pushed of pulled through the lines. Who cares its still blocked and there is no way you know untill you loose all the power.

I pull the battery and use a rather large pair of channel lock pliers.

That is what I did too. I know some bend the AC line a little and that helps but I didn't want to do that so just pulled the battery. On the plus side I found it leaked a little so got a new battery, tray, etc under warranty.

I also replaced the bleeder screw with this little T valve that I saw on The Diesel Place that makes it a LOT less messy to bleed it.
