Difference between 'Work Truck' and 'Base' ??

Recommended Posts

Hey!

Can anyone tell me the exact differences between the 2005 Work Truck and Base packages? My 2003 has the W/T package & it included the standard cloth seats, painted steel wheels, painted bumper etc... It LOOKS like the W/T package for 2005 is only available with vinyl trim ans no carpet upgrade. Is this correct? If so, could I order a Base level truck with a painted bumper and painted wheels with standard cloth? I know it sounds a little petty but since I'll be ordering the truck, I want to get EXACTLY what I want. Other than that, It looks like they are the same truck.

Also, for those who have ordered. If some option that I pick is not allowed/available, will the dealer be able to tell me on the spot or will the truck be delivered with something I didn't want?

Thanks

Go to costcoauto.com and you can spec it the way you want and get invoice and MSRP. Got to new car research and be sure and click 2005. I think the default year is 2004.

See where you like the five speeds from your sig. Got my 05 5speed LS and seems to be a stout truck. My gooseneck hitch came in tuesday so maybe I can get it installed this weekend and see what the truck can do with a trailer behind it.

When a truck is ordered from the factory You don't order it; the dealer does. You really have nothing to do with the truck until it arrives at the dealer...then you buy it. The dealer should be able to tell you what you can & can't get, but when the factory issues a build number (about 10 days - 2 weeks), that means that they will build it (actually HAVE to build it)...it would be at that time that any discrepencies in the order v/s ability to build it would be finalized. For instance...in Calif you can't get the roof marker lights on a 3/4 ton (somehow is tangled up with the emissions regs...go figure)...so if that slipped thru at the dealer, the factory would supposedly catch it and flag it back to the dealer, who would then contact you. Sure, I'm knowing that mistakes will be made here and there, but for the most part thats about how it should work. The dealers computer screen is not too much different from the GM build your own site....if it isn't offered, it won't even come up....other than small little things like the lights I mentioned.

Now if you buy one and the dealer gets it off another lot, it might come with some extra stuff that the dealer is gonna eat the cost on, but thats just so he can make the sale....an upgraded radio for example.
