Pace-Edwards Bedlocker Power Rolltop

Paid about $1150.00

This bedcover is the rolling kind, but has a motor that rolls it out and back. It takes the first 10" or so of bed for the box. It comes with two remote controls to operate it. The only wiring required is for 12V power.

It comes with plenty of wire with a black braid around it. Plenty to reach the engine bay to access a 12V source.

Quality is excellent. All of is coated in black powdercoat, which has lasted two Texas summers with no signs of fading or other deterioration.

It's nice to be able to lock up the bed (with the addition of a tailgate lock), and still be able to use it as a open bed when I want to. It locks in whatever position you stop it, so you can have something sticking out at the back, while protecting the rest. With a good tailgate lock, the bed is now more secure than the cab (no glass to break).

I velcro'd the remote to the armrest near the window switches, so it's normally there, or I can take it with me for added security.

I did the installation myself. Everything was straightforward. The hardest part was lifting the box up into the bed (it's heavy). The rest with the rails, and the aligning the rails was easy.

It's worth going electric if you're fitting a rolltop cover anyway.

I have the Pace Edward's JackRabbit tonneau and it's been good to me for about 2 years now...doesn't seal out water, but it's very sturdy and I love the flush look. I'm sure that I could seal it up if I really wanted to, but I never really worried about it. I really like the fact that it locks like you mentioned. I used to have the Pace Edwards Powergate locking tailgate actuator, but I had the solenoid seize up on my twice...both times after long rides on my way to Nascar races. After the second time I said screw it and removed the thing and went with a Bully manual locking tailgate...all you see is the lock cylinder in the bezel...pretty clean.

But yea, it's a real heavy item...I'd imagine that yours is even heavier than mine with electric motors and all. I installed mine by myself, using blocks and tool boxes to level the unit...man my back was sore that day. I think that once it's opened up the weight distribution isn't too bad though. One of their reps told me that mine weighed 75-80 lbs...so I went on a diet and dropped 70 lbs to even it out.

I have had mine for three years. I had the cover replaced under warranty when it started flaking last summer. It is a great top for me as I load up my dog box in the fall for hunting. The one draw back is that in winter it can get frozen shut due to the ice.
