Wiper arm trouble after snow on 2005

Recommended Posts

On my way home from work today, some snow built up by the hood, causing one of the wiper arms to not get down all the way. When I got home, it looked like it had jumped a few teeth or something. Drivers side gets down all the way while passenger side stays up a good bit on the windshield. 2005 2500hd. This has never happen to me in the past even with lots of snow on the hood, with previous vehicles.

BTW. It still works and moves fine except being off about 15-20 degrees to the left.

Has this ever happened to you? If so, what did you do to fix it?

Thanks,

Yes, I've had this happen on my '04 2500LD that I just traded and it also happened on my supervisors '04 2500HD. I went out one morning to start it up and brush the snow off...finished...jumped in and turned of the wipers, and the drivers side stayed down while the passenger side worked. I had all the snow brushed away and no ice nor was it frozed to the windshield...it just wasnt working. I popped open the hood and pulled the little cap off the nut that anchors down the wiper...it was very loose. I grabbed some locktite and got it on tight...no more problems.

My supervisor had the same thing happen but on both of his at the same time...he took his to the dealer and they did the exact same thing under warranty. Perhaps the fellas at Flint need some new air ratchets and calibrated torque wrenches :fume: !!
