4WD Grinding,Clunking

2004 2500HD, 8,000 miles. I used the 4WD twice...First time was great, quite, smooth. The second time, an incredible grinding noise that seemed to be coming from the front hub area, sounded like metal to metal bearing noise, also some clunking. Taking it to the dealer today, chances are, they won't be able to look at it, any ideas or experiences with what I have on my hands here , almost forgot.....6.0L, Ext. Cab S/B

Just got back from the dealer, the best they could do was have a Tech go on a road test, he said "Yup, something is coming apart, could be Front Diff or Transfer Case, gotta wait till Wendsday to put it on a lift". I'll post the outcome of this to maybe help someone else with a similiar problem.

Just got off the phone with the dealer....Blown Diff at 8,000 miles

They claim the Pinion Bearing siezed, they couldn't remove it and had to replace the entire housing, Thank God is was under warranty, big $$$$

Why do they fail so much on the HD trucks?
