Best ECU programming for 97Tahoe

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone; I figure I'll ask the pros with this question. What is the best available tuning program for my 97Tahoe. I was thinking of going w/hypertech but the $$$ outweighs the performance by a great margin. Here is what I have done to my vehicle......

1. AirAid intake w/K&N filter; made lil juice and sounded nice

2.PowerAid throttle body spacer; made no gains but does make a whistling sound when the tach hits 3K. I bought it for only $30 from a friend cause it was too difficult for him to install it. I said what the heck..only $30 ya know

3.Flowmaster cat back exhaust w/3" outlet

4. Gibson headers; the direct replacement kind. Out of the minor mods I've done to it this was the best so far.

Lemme know what you guys think what should I do for a programming solution. Thanks in advance!

Take a look at www.PCMforLess.com, there's also a link to the left. I couldn't be happier with the way my truck runs and the awesome customer service I recieved. I know that your 97 is completely different than my 99, (I'm assuming that you have a 305 or 350 as opposed to my 5.3 GENIII style engine), but according to the website, Bryan does the flash programming on 94's and up, and Alvin does chip burning. Worth a look.

Thank budhayes3; I might look into them. I'm also in the process of lifting my truck early next spring. I'm thinking of a 4"suspension sittin on 33" BFG's. I wonder if I should wait on the programming until I get the 33's so they can program and recalibrate for the larger tires. And yes she does have the 5.7L vortec. Its a strong reliable machine; and I want some more of that potential juice thats hidden inside of it. Thank you and any more replys would be greatly appreciated....THANX:)

David, Wester's has a killer tune for the 96-2000 LT1 Vortec engines, and fom the dyno charts I've seen posted, far outperformes anyone elses tune! Comes with a lifetime of free updates (ship only), AND the lifetime 100% trade-in credit for the tune for your next truck, and the next one, and the next one.............

I have been emailing Brian at Westers. He's real informative; and has a lot of patience for answering all the questions I have asked him. I think I'm going to get the 91octane HOT program. I can't find 93octane here in AZ; so I have to stick w/the 91. I like the fact its a liftime service warrenty on this truck and the next and the next ect. I hope this 91 HOT tune will do some wonders!

Would you guys recommend this site.  They say they are a Wester's dealer.  I spoke to Brian at this site below.  Peep it out; let me know if they are the real deal just like the garage......
