Outside temp sensor

I had a stuck-open `stat in 0-deg weather.. I duct-taped an 8½X11 sheet of paper in front of the core.. (Worked just right.) Although it was a manual trans. And yes, I replaced the `stat.

Easily removed when the Wx was warmer.

I put on the grill blanket for the first time and outside temp (on Mirror) shot up. Were is the sensor under hood so I can move it?

Where do you live? I live in the Utah mountains and it has already dropped below zero here a couple of times. I do not use the grill blanket, only the lower bumper/valence blanket and it works sufficient enough. It takes awhile to warm up but it stays at operating temperature all of the time and the tranny temp stays about the right temp too. I think the grille blanket is only for extremes like the North Pole and places that are just frigid.

Not to sound to ignorant but what is a grill blanket or the lower bumper blanket? Is that for heating it over night or just to have in place when driving to block the wind from the radiator? Just curios.

It is a BRA, essentially. The DMax Diesel comes with it from the factory in cold weather states as an accessory that is stashed under or behind the seat. There are two parts to it. A grill cover and a bumber bra. If you live in the rockies you see them turning out on the front ends of DMax pickups in late fall. Some people use the lower one all year round here just to keep the bugs off of the bumber.

They are also called a winter front. They are quite common in areas that see cold winters. From big rigs to pickups you see them. They block the cold winter air from cooling down the radiator too much so the engine stays in the proper operating temperature. A piece of cardboard between the grille and radiator works just as good. I also know some guys that will put in a higher thermostat in the winter months.
