Help!!! 4L80E Problem!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, writing 2 U form snowie Russia! :flag:

Got Chevy Suburban 2500 '96 7.4l 4L80E. After transmission overhaul procedure (replaced friction set, bushings set and installed trans-scat kit - all TCI) got strange problem. New heavy duty oil pump spring caused the following situation - 1st to 2nd shifts good, 2nd to 3rd shifts good, and 3rd to 4th shifts s**tty - shifting exists 0.5 second and then transmission goes to condition such neutral one, it does not replay on accel pedal. no service mode, no check engine light, nothing. After speed goes down a bit 3rd shift turns on. and over and over again. Look what i did - i installed old normal duty spring back and got another problem - 1-st to 2nd shifts good and smooth, 2nd to 3rd shifts as follows (solenoid works good and then 2 seconds delay goes on prior shifting - something like short slipping) and 3rd to 4th shifts good and smooth. What is it? 3-rd to 4-th solenoid? oil pump? don't think so. Valve body? why? Help...

Thanks!

Johnny

i got same proplem with 2003 1500 sierra 5.3 ... i took it to the dealer but they couldn't fix it ........

Could be the clutch plates or a bad Valve. I would have the dealer check out that valve. They tend to stick at times and cause ruff shifts.

I've got the same exact problem with my truck. 2000 Chev. Silverado, 3/4 ton ext. cab long bed w/ 6.0 an 4wd. When I got the inspection, it turned out to be the clutch plates sticking. You could smell the trans fluid, and it smelt like something had been sitting on the stove burning. Nothing a driver could do to prevent this. Gotta a Jasper replacement coming with a 3 yr/75000 mi warranty!! Just got to send my old one back. The inspector had also told me he saw the same thing about a month ago on a similar style truck. :dupe:

Huh... the truth is that i don't smell anything, trans fluid is clean and smells good, and the last is that i just overhauled the transmission! new clutch plates and friction bands installed! :smash: And it's too expensive to order new trans here, in Russia...

So, thank U. but i didn't find anything useful...

It may be one or more of the electronic modules in the transmission itself because these trannies work off your vehicles ECM. You never know? :smash:
