New guy just bought 92 full size blazer

Recommended Posts

Hey guys im new hear and to the whole deal of liftin trucks.I want to do a 6" suspension lift with a 3" body lift on my blazer.Im just wanting to know what im getting myself into as far as gas mileage, general maintnence(is that how you spell that?)The blazer is a one owner and has 87,000 miles on it.A local shop quoted me $1800 for the 6" suspension lift and i didn't ask him about the 3" body.Im trying to stay cheap. He's got a set of used 33's both tires and rims,i can get these for a reasonable price. But would they look like crap with that much lift. Will it be a really rough ride or is it relatively smooth. If any one has pics of a set up like this or could point me in the direction of some pics, that would be awesome.Sorry for rambling.

Thanks in advance.

i really think that would really look bad with that much lift if you are talking about a full size blazer

or is this the regular, small blazer?

It looks just like the 95 tahoe's,i guess they just called it a blazer in the early 90's.Im not sure what im going to do now.I've been reading and it seems people say you need to change your gears out and do some other stuff. What all has to be done with a 6"suspension and a 3"body to my car in order for me not to burn my tranny up or mess up my gears?I think i want to do 35's but i guess it will be harder on my drivetrain.

HELP!

Hey! Another 92 K1500 Blazer! Not a lot of them out there. Welcome to the forums.

That sounds like a decent price for the lift...Is that price including install?

If you go with 35s, you will most likely want to change to 4:56 gears (at least) because you will lose a TON of low-end torque. Truck would be pretty gutless off the line without shorter gears.

The trannies on these trucks isn't the best either, you should plan on beefing that up as well, if you want to put that kind of load on it.

Well i guess that settles it.I dont have the money right now for the gears. How much do the gears run?And as far as tranny goes what all needs to be done to it?Judging by your blazer i think mi looks like the same color. Also this guy has theses 33's for a great price could i buy them and throw them on or would they not fit with stock suspension. Thanks again guys.

Kind of depends...285/75/r16 (what I have on mine) comes out to about 33X11.50R16

They should fit...but I'm not a tire expert.

Gears depends a lot on how good you are at haggling with a good mechanic to do it for you, or how good you are with tools.

One of our members (Shotgun I believe) recently had some installed. I don't recall the price though.

You'll probably get quotes anywhere between $1000 and $4000 to get gears installed front and rear.
