High beams on with low beams

Recommended Posts

I always forget the company that sells this when I buy a new truck. Does anyone know which company manufactures the switch that allows the high beams to stay on with the low? They also make the switch to allow the fog lights to automatically come in with the headlights.

Thanks!

Tom

There are many companies that make the switch to run high and low beams at the same time. I have bought from Stylin' Concepts and their part is about $50. It worked well. On my new truck I bought from www.mrgrille.com or www.mrtaillight.com (same company) and only paid $29 for the exact same thing. They also give detailed instruction on their web site on installation.

Hope this helps.

Just did mine this week and it cost me a whopping 31 cents and 3 min of work. Saw it on another site about using a diode (1N4001) and jumping from one relay to the other in the fuse box. Worked flawless! Bought the diode at Radio Shack for $.59 for a 2-pak. Soldered a couple pieces of wire on each end then shrink wrapped it. Done!

Some of these will work but I'm also looking for the one that allows the foglights to automatically come on. The company that makes the high beam switch also does the one for the fogs. I'm searching on this end also.

You just need another diode that's all. I've got mine wired so I get hi, lo, drl (now amber), and fogs with the high beams. I ran out of diodes so the next time I'll wire it for fogs on with lows. The only thing with the diodes is there is no way to turn off the fogs without a lot more screwing around.

Legally in most state fog lights can only be on when low beams are on. They must be off when high beams are on. I don't know why, it doesn't make any sense to me but that's the law. My wife was stopped by a police officer because I had installed aftermarket fog lights on our car and she had them on with the high beams. We never use the high beams except when there's no oncoming traffic so it's not like your blinding someone worse with the fog lights on. The high beams do that all by themselves.

Now THAT'S what I'm talkin about! LOL! I wanna do the same with mine but I'm thinking I'll put a switch in between the diode and the pin 85 on the fogs and DRLs. Run the wire into the cab and mount a switch somewhere just so I can override that part if need be. Sounds good though! You should get a pic with all those lights on at the same time! hehe
