These new HD's are pieces of S#$%!!!!

Recommended Posts

Ive owned this HD since new and I have had problems with it ever since. First problem the transmission transfer case were running hot and making a loud clunking sound. Took it in and the problem was a syncro ring in the tranny was toast. They fixed it no problems since. Well next problem was there was a bad vibration at highway speeds. They Found something bad on the driveshaft replaced the driveshaft no more problems. Now it rained out here and i spun the tires a little bit and when the hd caught traction the speedometer said I was going 65 mph when i was sitting still and goes up from there when i take off to drive. I was going down the interstate yesterday going about 80 and the d**n thing said it was going like 130 mph I know i wasnt going that fast. But the speedometer is messed up now. so im gonna take it in again and see what the problem is this time. I am about fed up with this thing. I can honestly say i think this thing is the biggest piece of crap I have ever bought. And they call this thing a Heavy Duty :bs: ...:D:D:eek::eek::eek::D:D

Don't worry your truck is still under warantee so I wouldn't worry about it. Yes its a brand new truck but there is always one in the buch thats gonna have some problems, saying every new HD is junk is rediculous because I know what they can take and put up with. Between my truck and my friends 04 HD I know that these things are made to work, don't let anyone foul you. And if your dealer doesn't fix the problem bring it to another dealer.

LOL, i thought you was refering to that truck in your avitar, and i was like "yeah your gonna have some trouble with a lifted truck like that". Your HD is it the D/A combo or the BB/A combo, cause i had my 02 HD for the past three years and nevered had that problem occurred to my truck, You sure its a Chevy HD and not a Ford :chevy: .

I know how you feel. I took my '01 2500 HD to the shop because I was feeling a vibration at highway speeds and a clunk when I started and stopped. It ended up that the transfer case had 2 tiny holes in it and IT WAS DRY inside of it. NO OIL! Lots of damage was done. Gonna cost me $2150, not covered by warranty because it has 79,000 miles. And the kicker is that I just bought the truck 4 weeks ago. The second kicker is that I just spent $2,000 rebuilding the transmission on my dodge. :chevy:

I'm not gonna give up on chevy though. I still think they are good pickups. The tranny shop said that this particular transfer case is just a bad design with weak parts. Every vehicle has it's weaknesses, it's just a matter of if they are gonna give in on you.

Take a deep breath and try to remain calm. I know this is frustrating because my 99 was in the shop alot at first. It had many small problems like this. It was under warranty and eventually these problems were remedied. These problems occur with all makes of vehicles and all models too. They are built on an assembly line in mass quantities and its just like "Murphy's Law", every once in a while one has some glitches. I have taken my HD in once for warranty work and it was a recall (tailgate cables and hydroboost brake seal). I do not, by any means, consider this truck, or my 99 for that matter, a piece of crap. That's why there is warranties. If they cannot remedy your problems in this time frame then there is protection for consumers. It is called the "Lemon Law". You cannot lose on your investment if you just keep on top of things. If your not satisfied with it get rid of it. I personally have heard alot worse stories from my friends that drive f$%ds.

I think that's why you get a warranty......and it seems to me that GM has done an excellent job of standing by it with you.

My speedo went to hell to, but the dealership had it replaced and I have had no problems since. Just make sure they reprogram it after the install.

"These new HD's are pieces of S#$%!!!!, Problems and with only 7500 miles"

Probably should rephrase your title to say:

"My new HD is a piece of S#$%!!!!, Problems and with only 7500 miles"

20K on my 03 and only routine snags with mine. I would be concerned though if i continued to have major issues with my new truck. Would take me long before I was demanding a new ride!

I haven’t had good luck with mine so far. My transmission was replaced which fixed a grinding noise in reverse. They found metal chunks in the fluid and tore it down to find some scoring and missing teeth. I still have a clunking noise in the left wheel they "can’t seem to replicate". Now, I have a little bit of a shudder taking off from a stop. I imagine it has to do with the new tranny they installed. This will be my 5th time back to the dealership with 5800 miles. Hopefully things start to get better with this thing. I've never had problems with any of my vehicles before this one. :chevy:

There are problems with EVERY vehicle manufacture, My sister bought a 2004 Mercedes S500 sedan payed a little over $90,000 for it and she has had that in the shop for numerious repairs so it doesnt matter how much we pay for vehicles there are going to be problems with all of them, thats why we have warranties. I was reading on another forum that one guy went 144,000 miles and just had his injectors replaced on an LB7 motor and man he was talking all kinda crap about his truck that it was junk and he will never buy a chevy again etc. Nothing is bullet proof. Iam not talking bad about you are anything but when I have to take mine back for warranty work yea it bothers me sometimes but there fixing it for nothing and I just think of my sisters car, no big deal to me.
