Rancho shocks too short!

Recommended Posts

The Rancho application chart indicated the 2001 HD requires RS5288 in the front. So, we pulled the front and tried to install the new RS5288 in the front. Wheel was on the ground and under load, but one may remove shock w/out lifting frame or removing tire. Guess what? It's about 1/2" too short. Sure, i could lift the frame w/ a jack to droop the front susspension, but once its let down, won't it damage/crush/destroy the shock? Anyone have this problem. No lift-- all stock.

thanks,

mb

What is the GVW if its 9200 its the rs5288, if its up to 8600GVW it should be a RS5295.

thanks-- i'll look into that. i note ur running geolanders. i used to have 35" geolanders on my jeep and they lasted for what seems like forever, but i got a deal on some MT/Rs and let the yokos go for a song. bad move. after 50k miles they still had 80% tread. my MT/Rs are near gone only after less than 15k miles... sheesh!

agreed, but i got five 35" MTRs for free thru a promotion with goodyear. we agreed to take goodyear executives on a jeep ride and 5 meats of ur choice was the gift-- not bad, but i miss the geolanders. only down side is the directional tread-- that can make for interesting choices for a spare-- i carried a non-directional spare.
