Recommended Posts

Happy Monday all,

Just out of curriosity, this is the sticker price/botom line price at the GMC dealership in Wenatchee Wa.

This unit is a shortbox crew cab XM-onstar , all options.

If anyone has the time stealth a look in your area for the same unit.

Let's see how much difference there is different areas

"are taking 5800 off any MSRP from any 2005HD."

I don't think so Vern.

What you're saying is $5800 off ALL 2500HD, the bare bones basic unit @ $28000 = 20% all the up to the $50000=12%

You know it's just plain insulting to peoples intelligence when such a blanket statement is made.

This dealer has made it real easy for me, he's told me he'll sell anything on the lot to me minus 16% MSRP.

dealer incentives are a dollar value.. not a percentage.. so $5800 off ALL 2500s makes more sense that a flat %16... maybe your dealer told you that so he can take you for more on the higher priced truck.

before you think blanket statements are 'insulting to your intelligence', you should do more reasearch before you speak.

ah contraire,

16%, is in ADDITION to rebates , incentives, vacations, timeshares, etc..

Granted that flat % is going to change relative to selling programs.

It's interesting to see who's experienced in the retail world isn't it.

Margins gentelmen,. It's all about margins.

Why not offer $500 over dealer invoice? Most will take it with a little haggling. Also the fleet sales managers are more likely to cut a deal, even over the phone. Come and get it! No hassle easy sale for them. There are incentives beyond what they offer to you. The invoice prices can be found on the internet.

Good point. I have never heard of the percentage route(I am not saying it is not true, so don't bite my head off). On my last three trucks I have offered $100 dollars over invoice and it worked everytime(That is making them show me their actual invoice on the truck first). The dealer usually says "I have never went that low, let me ask the manager". You have to let them feed you the "stealership line of bulls#$t" first and how they are not going to make a dime off of you. I guarantee they will not let you leave the lot without giving in. The manufacturer rebates kick in after this whole deal has been made. It has nothing to do with the dealer on these incentives, the savings is just passed down. The dealership actually pays GM the invoice price but the kickbacks they get for selling the vehicles is tremendous. I know all of this because my grandfather used to do the finances for a GMC dealership.

That sticker amount looks right. The sticker on my 2005 GMC Sierra D/A SLT CC 4x4 was $48,355. I think the only things I'm missing are the DVD system & sunroof.

Regarding prior posts about dealer invoice cost. My dealer specifically told me the dealer invoice is approximately 12% under sticker - not a flat amount. In fact, they even showed me a copy of the invoice & it was 12.2% under the sticker amount.

Bill, is Real Texan's name Vern? I looked up each of his posts and he never gave a name. If you use Vern as a substitute for dumb azz or something similar please don't, that would mean you suck  .

i brought in a ford brochure and started quizzing him on the ups and downs of buying a gm over a ford  made him sweat pretty good until the manager came out and cut 10 grand off the msrp :D:D i also had all the pages from the excursion and suburban printed out stating invoice, etc, it makes them scared when theyve been talking to an educated customer

I was just looking at a similar set up today, 47,570.00.

I don't care what anybody says this is a lot of dough for a truck. You know I think that the manufacturers have raised the prices of the popular trucks and SUV substantially to cover all of the incentives.

In 2001 I bought a Ford F350 PS CC/Dually/Leather/ in fact it had every option I could buy at the time and it stickered at 38K. I bought it for 35K.

Now with virtually no inflation for the past four years how are these new trucks worth 10K more?

I'm not making any brand vs brand claims, just that I think these (trucks and SUV's in general)are waaaay over priced.

I'd like a new truck but there is no way I'm spending 50K for a truck.

The old 2001 2500HD is still looking good.
