Steering binding after T-bar crank

Recommended Posts

I cranked my T-bars up some more this weekend, and now my steering is binding a little when I'm not moving. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm going to have it aligned, but I doubt that will help out with the steering binding. I was thinking I might need to extend my steering linkage. Surely I wouldn't need to do a different pittman arm after only 2.5 inches right? Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's a 98 Z71 extended cab. Thanks.

My Yukon will bind sometimes. i cranked the t-bar about 2-2.5. I notice it while im backing up. It will get real stiff(the steering) this happens just for a second or less. i feel like something snaged up . I thought it was the stabalizer i put on may be not.

Yeah I'm going to try to make it to town today to get the alignment, I'll let yall know what I find, thanks for the feedback.

I didn't make it to town for the alignment yet, but I figured out what the problem was. It was my shocks. I put longer ones on yesterday, I had to jack up the lower control arm to get the shock off, they were over extended by far. Now it rides better, and turns like it did the day I bought it. I'll be all over that alignment today.

Yeah those longer shocks really help don't they?

When I put mine on, I was kicking myself for not having done it much, much sooner.

How do you know which "longer" shocks to get? I bought a set of Monroe sensatraks on mine last month. Even at stock height, the shocks were just about at the top of their travel range. I'm thinking of raising the front 1-1.5" with the torsion bars, but fear that I may then need the longer shocks.

Does each shock manufacturer make "longer" shocks for our trucks?

Thanks

I got my Heckethorn Nitro 9000 shocks from roughcountry.com, they're made for the 2-3' lift, I think they're $120 for all four. Or go to 4wheelparts, and you can get the pro comp shocks for your application, but tell them you want longer shocks due to lift, and they should help you out.
