Front End Play when Turning

Recommended Posts

I have an 03 silverado ext cab with the 4inch rancho lift and have noticed that over the past few months, there is play in the front end only when turning left (even on normal roads and haven't gone off road since this play has surfaced either).

Have taken it to a tire shop and they don't see anything loose and I can't either.

Will be putting on a steering stabilizer this week, wondering if that will do the trick. Any thoughts?

tx!

What kind of "play" are you talking about? Can you give us a better idea of what it is doing etc..

A stabilizer would just be a bandaid if there is something wrong. It will not fix the problem just help hide it and that would not be a good thing.

Good point.. Sorry.

Feels like a steering control arm is loose - though doesn't appear as such. Again, only when turning left and its in the driver side front wheel area.

Still Drives straight as an arrow - not jumping around or drifting..

Just had the stabilizer put on (which reduced the issue quite a bit) BUT.. the shop said that there is a little lateral play in the steering gearbox. Said that i should prob. take it to the dealer to look at.

My guess is that the dealer will probably blame it on the lift and not want to replace it if there truly is something wrong. Should be an interesting discussion.

Anyone hear of/have this issue with the gearbox?
