Intermediate Steering Shaft

What's this bulls#$t that they are on back order? My 03 GMC HD has the "knocking" noise and I know what it is. I have owned 2 previous NBS pickups(I went through hell with my 99 because back then they had no clue what it was). I talked to the service manager at my local dealership and he said there is a "new design"(yeah right) and they are all on backorder. He had no idea how long though. Is anyone on this forum waiting for one too? Does anyone have a clue as to how long it could be before these "new pieces of crap" start showing up? Boo to GM for a horrible design that they have not been able to fix in six years.

Just went through the same ordeal on my mom's Suburban. I called ahead to make sure the shaft was in stock, and they said yes. Got there and they told me "oh that shaft is on national backorder." Figures, anyway they told us 2-3 weeks before it would come in. We got a call yesterday, 10 days after first visit, and the shaft is supposedly in, we will see tommorrow.

My '04 2500HD went in this past Wednesday for that annoying knocking in the steering. I wasn't too pleased that the noise started with less that 8,000 on the truck. They had to order it, we'll see how long it takes to get it in....
