Blocks and Ford Keys

I know this has been discussed but I can't find a thread... help!! I am debating adding blocks to the GMC and was wondering what sizes I can get away with in conjuction with Ford keys. What height block is everyone using with Ford keys to keep the truck level?

I took out the factory 2inch block and installed a 3inch block with ford keys.

 

 

Here is a pic with blocks, keys, bodylift, 16x10s and 315s.

Did you use your stock shocks with the lifted pu? If not, what did you use? I know they make shock extenders for the front shocks that screw over the posts thereby making them about 1 to 2 inches longer. What I can't figure out is how to extend the length of the rear shocks without doing some fabrication to the brackets, and I don't want to start welding on my pu.

CD... that truck is perfect in my book. That's the exact height I am looking for to support the size wheels / tires I want. Dropped you a PM for specifics on a few things.

I know on my old blazer the rear shocks mounted to the spring pack, not the axle. Sooooo, if the trucks are the same way the rear shock mounts will not be moved. The axle will be moved farther from the spring, and shock.

I could be wrong though so CD01Z71 might have a better answer.

Okay, on these trucks the shocks mount to the axle. I agree, if they mounted to the spring pack it would be gravy. I have about two inches of downward play in the rear shocks before they top out, so if I raise the rear two inches I will not have any downward motion in my shocks and they will be taking the brunt of the impact. I haven't measured the front shocks to see how much extra play they have. But as I mentioned earlier, they do make extenders for the studs at the top of the shocks in the front so that is not a problem.

I am running a set of KYB shocks with some stacked washers for extenders up front. In the rear I didn't modify anything having to do with the shock. It works great and hopefully I can buy a suspension lift before the end of the year.
