Anyone remove their Jounce Bumpers?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I was looking at my front suspension while changing the oil this weekend in my 03 Z-71, and noticed that the lower a-arms are riding on the jounce bumpers. My thinking is that I could remove the bumpers and improve the ride. Any thoughts? Do the regular non Z-71 trucks have anything in the place of these bumpers?

Also, I've considered raising the front end by cranking the torsion bars just enough to give the suspension more travel, but the torsion bars would then stiffen the ride. I'm trying to find ways to make a smoother ride.. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jason

I have on 02 2500HD crew cab and rides on these so called jounce stoppers also I added an 8" fabtech lift and the set up comes with 3 front shochs per wheel and as you could imagine the ride was horrible. I did remove the stops and the shocks broke in and it rides much better that even stock. I've also heard of some people just trimming the stops so so that the truck doesn't ride on them but still are there in case of a big impact!

I have a 2003 2500hd and I removed the jounce bumpers. my truck now rides smooth! Also the front articulates alot better than it used to...its like the front shocks can make use of their full stroke. I have also installed a leveling kit if that makes any difference to you gentlemen. oh and I run 285's. cheers :D
