Want Lift. But will it hold up 4L80E?

Recommended Posts

With all the lifted trucks out there with no problems, I'm guessing it'd be fine. I've just about convinced myself that with our particular trucks (6.0L w/ the 4.10 rear end) we'll get better gas mileage due to the larger tires = less RPMs. At least on the highway. Can anyone else back up my guess? I've talked to a couple guys on here that have said they get better mileage & I hope its true. Maybe I'm way off, or just trying to convince myself I need a lift! What yalls thoughts on this?

I dont really know i might get a fabtech. What about yourself? Also do you know if anybody has had any problems from the front cv shafts for the four wheel drive breaking. Cause i want to lift and then wheel it but i dont want to be replacing cv shafts every weekend. Thanks

If I were to get one I'd get RCD or, if you want to pay a little more, cst makes a good lift. What I dont like about fabtech is how it makes your front tires stick out so much wider than the rear. To me it looks kinda goofy - but thats my opinion and you may like that. I have a buddy at work that put a 6" RCD on his 02 Siera CC 4x4 8.1 & its a great looking truck! He has 10" rims, I think I'd go the 8.5" route - but again personal preference. Let us know what you get & how it effects your milage. GF7PE said he got better, but I knew he did already. Any others w/ our setup getting better MPG now??

whats wierd is a guy I know has the same truck with the RCD lift and the tires stick out just as much. I am gonna get some 5.5bs wheels for the front and 4.5's for the rear to make it look better

I've got the 8" fabtech and I agree that the front track was widened about 5" total. Of course I realized this after the truck was lifted! Looking to buy a new truck this spring and want to do an 11" CST lift with 38" tires. I do however like the lift I have the double shock mounts up front and the tracktion bars in the rear and think it rides nice. I have had no real problems with the lift and think the only thing I want to do is to regear the axles to 4:56 or 4:88 it currently has 4:10's.
