Green Keys, Ford Keys, and longer shocks

Recommended Posts

Ive read a lot of posts here about Ford torsion keys, and the Green GM keys. What is the difference between the two. One for 1500? and one for 2500? I cant seem to get a straight answer which keys to run.

Also, a few people here have mentioned finding 2+" longer shocks to run on a 2500HD. Would you mind posting info on this shock? Every shock Ive seen that is longer is 4+" longer. Id like to replace the shocks, but cant find a slightly longer shock to work with cranked, Green/Ford Key'd bars.

I spoke with a Chevy dealer and they say there are 4 different color Keys available. Green, Purple, Orange, White. What exactly is the difference between the 4 different sets? My truck currently has purples. I had to use some steel wool to take the rust off the keys to see the color. I also verified the color from the RPO code in the glove box.

The Chevy dealer gave me the codes for each individual color if anyone needs that info.

Ive got an 01 2500HD CC 4WD and Im looking to level it out. I wish someone would make a 2"-3" kit like they make for a 2WD 2500HD. On the 2WD they make a 3" spindle and it looks perfect.

Ive currently got 285s on stock rims, and Id like to go to a 16X8 or 16X10, maybe up a tire size or two. Any suggestions?

So, which keys work my application, Ford or Green keys?

Also, can someone post the info on the shock that works with this application?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the pointer on the Green keys.

What are the Ford keys used for?

Can anyone spec out the shock they used with Green keys?

What is the difference between Green, Purple, Orange, & White factory GM keys?
