My Weekend Project I started on Saturday

Shadowfax

Recommended Posts

Started this thing this weekend. Got tired of lugging around the big ole pit everytime I go camping or tailgating so I started on this lil gem. I know I could've bought a small one for like 30 bucks at Wally world, but what is the fun in that? Plus I got to use a plasma cutter which is

So what do ya'll think so far? All I have left is some angle iron to weld in to hold the grill in the pit and some more to make some brackets for the legs. Then it'll be on to painting it.

Actually it is pretty light. The pictures make it larger than it really appears but in reality it will only take up maybe 3 to 4 feet in length and it is easily picked up. I made it out of an old tanker trailer's air tank for the brakes that had some rusted out spots. (you can see the patches I welded in on both sides of the tank.

I picked up the paint for it last night after my angle iron came in. So tonite I should have the final pieces welded on and then its off to painting it

We have one made out of a air compressor tank that looks a lot like that. Excpet it is about 25 years old and has no bottom. But it still cooks the BEST ribs. We had another smoker that a freind gave us that was much nicer, but it didnt cook as nice, so we gave it away and we're still using the compressor tank.

Well I finally finished it. My pit defintely stands out as its a bright mutha sucka, soI'll need a pair of :D to cook on it lol.

All my friends are getting a big kick outta the stripe job and the bright paint. I wonder if stripes and bright paint add more heat to cooking? Maybe a wing should be my next mod on it?

Neways hows it look?
