Reason i ask is that my dealer didn't belive me that my 6.0L HD had the 11.5" rear diff. They said it's only availible on the 8.1's. I know i am not lieing seeing i had to buy the 11.5" gasket after a rear fluid change. Anyone else shed some light on this?

Mine is 2002 GMC Sierra 1500HD 6.0 , the rear end is 9.5" 14 bolt with 3.73 gears and a G80. Could be that yours is a 2500 hd with a 6.0

Chad how much fluid did you have to add? 11.5 takes 1 gallon (gallon!) of synthetic oil.

actually, i couldn't tell you. I just knew how far up to fill it. I used Mobile1 in the rear and in the front. The problem is the stuff is so thick and the filler hole is at a 90degree angle its hard to get everything out of the bottle, so i ended up just filling one bottle about 10 times, getting half of it out each time. I'd say all togehter i used about 12 bottles in the front and rear combined.

All 2500Hd's with a 6.0 get the 10.5" FF. The D-max and 8.1's get the 11.5". Can you take a pic of the rear for me? I can tell you what it is. If it is a 11.5", I wouldnt have any idea why its in there. Did you buy the truck new?

I'd love to take a pic, but i lost my digital cam after softball season. I didn't but the truck new, i bought it used from a gut that ran his own concrete company. So i am not sure if anything special was done to it or not in that regard. Was there a commercial verison?

12 quarts???? My 2500HD (11.5" rear) used 4 quarts in the rear and 2 quarts in the front. You can a pump for like $4-$5 that will make it easier to fill, unfortunately the one I got did not fit the Amsoil bottles the best.

AMSOIL now makes a pump that fits right onto their bottles. It is a G-2039 and comes with all the necessary hoses and attachments for AMSOIL quart, gallon and twin pack bottles. Retail price is $11 and $9,95 preferred customer. AMSOIL Hand Pump
