Skyjacker suspension lift (Install Time)

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased a class 2, 6" skyjacker lift and it calls for about 5-6 hours install time. It has the mutiple shock setup in the front and add a leafs in the rear. I also purchased a steering stabilizer for it. I looked into having a couple guys do it for me who had already installed other brand lifts in thier trucks and they told me that it was going to take the two of them all weekend to install even though they were using a lift. They told me they would install it for 800$-1000$. I was expecting about 400$ am I way off or should I look else where.

Thanks for any help guys.

typical labor rates at a shop are 0ver $60.00 an hour. 6 hrs x $60 = $240 x 2 people is $480. $80 hr is $560. If they figure in a couple of hours xtra for problems that may arise the $800 qoute and a weekends workis close. it is high, but not really out of line. Quality work is worth it in the long run. Although if it is a good kit, a mechanically inclined individual could get it installed over a weekend also. either way your new "lift" is only as good as it's install.

But if these are just some good ole boy's that can just get up and quit with no responsibilities. Damm thats high  sounds like a couple of cases of beer(which they will prolly be drinkin anyway) maybe a trip to the nudie bar 2 dances apiece.

For a shop, I would say 800-1000 is high.....for "a couple of guys" I would say it's way to high.....Don't forget your screwing with your front suspension. if you are gonna pay to get it done, goto a reputable 4x4 shop in your area. Somewhere that will offer you a guarantee on their work. This is just my opinion, but I wouldn't trust my truck to a couple of guys that have done it once or twice before.

I just checked my receipts from my lift, the install cost me $500.

Thanks for the help guys, but I was also curious if anybody has installed a skyjacker 6" lift because I want to know how accurate the 5-6 hour install time is. One of the reasons I bought this lift was because of the short install time but now I am being told it is more complex than some of the other lifts that have longer install times.

I couldn't tell ya how long it takes to install.....I dropped mine off at the shop to get mine installed the night before, and picked it up the next afternoon around 6. This also includes the time to drive it to another shop to have the tires mounted, balanced, and get the alignment done. So it was an all day job.

How do you guys like the Skyjacker lift? I've heard good things about it.

I have heard that it is a good lift once you get it put on, the shop that did mine really liked the RCD. I think any lift that has the solid front cross member for IFS trucks are okay. Stay away from "Stupidlift" (Superlift) except in those applications where it is the only option!
