Front differential fluid

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone, long time since I last posted anything. Everything ok. I started to notice the seal on the drain plug from the front differential was dripping since I installed the lift on the truck and so I wanted to change it. Well well, not too much info on fluid amounts in the hand book. I went to Dan Kane (GM dealership) and asked them, they too didn't know how much it holds. That is until I came here. You guys are awesome!:thumbs: After reading a few posts, I found out the info I wanted.

Let me say what I did and please tell me if I went wrong. ...

Undo both drain and fill plugs. Drain out fluid (btw, dark grey fluid.....not cool) and then plug drain plug. After that, fill until it starts dripping out the fill plug. Install fill plug and you're done!

Did I miss anything? It took 48 oz. Is that about right? I used AC Delco Axle lubricant (SAE 80W-90) in the 680ml bottles. Cat no: 89021672.

Thanks.

P.S. I am fed up with Webshots! I can't upload any of my pictures of the lift. Even when I make the pictures very small in file size. Can anyone recommend another site where I can post pictures! Thanks. Walter.
