2500hd with 315/70/17

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Just wanted to get some quick info here before I just went out and bought something. I know smart idea huh?

Anywho,

I am looking to see if it is possible to fit the above size tires on a reasonably stock 2002 2500hd but with ford keys. I have looked into it a little but wanted to know for sure. If not, would a 3 inch lift give me my desired result of fitment for the above tires.

Any help would be great guys!

Chris

Here is mine with 315/70/17.  I just cranked the t-bars, longer shocks and trimmed the inner wheel well to elimated any rubbing.

Truck looks great. Where did you get the red door handles, and red flares? I like the look of that vs. my black dimpled plastic crap.

How many turns did you put on the T bars? How bad is the ride?

You can make them fit with H2 rims cuz the backspacing is 5.5" which tucks the wheels in the wheelwells.

Go with a less backspacing and they will stick out more which means they will rub. How bad they rub is the part I can't answer.

Anyone know the width of the H2 rims? Ive got 6.5" stockers on mine now with 285s and Id like something in the 8" width range.

H2 wheels are 8.5" wide. I think they fit perfect as far as width and back spacing goes. They don't stic out at all, and with 315s they are the same diameter as 35s but not as wide so you do have a chance of fitting them with out a full on lift. However t is tricky and some mode do have to be done. Normal driving is fine, but I was doing some tight menuevers on uneven terrain this weekend at drivers side front was rubbing on the in fendr pretty bad. Nothin get damaged, it is just annying, so I had to work on it some more.

Do a search for green keys on the forum, the part numbers have been posted several times. The problem is, all of the keys (green, purple, maybe some other one) have the same part numbers. Just contact your local chevy dealership and give them the part number and color you want., should be about $35/pair. I got mine from fitchner chevrolet.

That being said, I really feel you do not need them. You should be able to get 2" from the stock keys and the green keys do the yexact same thing cranking your current keys, they just give you more room. You could proabbly go 3", but them you nose would be stickin g up in the air and you shock wouldn't even come close to reaching their mounts.

Try cranking you keys all the way first and see what you get, if you need more, get the green keys. You'll need longer shocks too, or you need to modify the shock mounts.
