Body or Suspension Lift

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just purchased a 2004 Z71 Crew Cab, and never owned a full size only had S-10s up until now, so my question is what make and size of lift is out there for these trucks that are made well and reliable and also what size tires and wheels could you fit with different size suspension and or body lifts? I was looking for some type of chart how they have them for certain trucks that show say a 2 inch body lift will let you fit these size tires and so on, but had no luck yet on finding something like that, well thanks for your time.

I had 285/75R/16's with my stock everything.

Go with a 3" body lift to make it look like a truck. It's an easy installation. It took me and a friend about 6 hrs w/air tools. I put 305/70R/16's on afterward and they fill the wells nicely. I have pics on ere somewhere, do a 'tdub88' search.

Thanks, I will look into that, yeah it seems some don't like the body lift at all but others say it's a cheaper way to go and you can get a good size tire under there still, thanks for the help. :lurk:

The body lift works for me. If I did more 4-wheelin I would save up for the suspension lift. But I don't get off road enough to justify the expense. Half the people that bash body lifts usually have one added to their suspension lift - it's kinda funny sometimes.

I have 285/70/17 on the stock 17*7.5 6 spoke wheels and have no problems with them at all. Stock height on body and susp.

Mine's a 04 Sierra EC Z71, but it's all the same on the numbers though

I was curious if you had trouble finding a place to mount that size tire on them wheels? I been calling places and everyone keeps telling me the 275/70-17 is the biggest tire I can put on with having the 7.5" width wheels? so I don't know if I can get that size or not?

285/70/17's will fit those wheels without a problem. I too have a 1" body lift and a 3" suspension lift on my TJ. I'm not a big fan of  3" BL's but it is an easy and affordable option.

Hi, well cool! I will probably just have to order that size from the net somewhere and then bring them up to get mounted, just seems these local tire places don't want to say that size fits or mess with selling them or something, but anyway I will check them out on the net, and yeah I did price the body lifts and they sure are a lot cheaper than the suspension lift but I know a lot of people say just save for the suspension lift too, but that will be down the line for me, thank you.
