What are best low$ 8.1 perf/gas mile adds?

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering about relatively inexpensive: headers, low back pressure mufflers, 3.73's Vs 4.10's, induction pieces, rocker arms ?

for 8.1 2003 4/4 ext cab allison

Is there a consensus on where this truck needs the most help? ie best bang for $ ??

Thanks, I'll check out a tune.

What is the difference in driveability of 3.73 Vs 4.10's. I have both sets of axles, but not driven either yet. Waiting for new frame, front end.

AS for blowers, I keep my 94z28 ATI DISC w/ twin i/c's 419rwhp, alcohol coming shoud see 500.

I have driven a number of 3.73 equipped trucks and own a 4.10 equipped truck. The 3.73's are definatly lazier than the 4.10's.

The 4.10 rear end will offer much better throttle response, ease in towing, a bit better acceleration, and a much nicer burn out (should you find it acceptable).

Theoretically, the 3.73's will get you a bit better milage. Though i have not seen a big spread comparing my milage numbers to the numbers other members have posted here with 3.73's.

I have no drivability issues at all.

My best mod was Wester's Tune. No question.

A Westers tune along with a highflow induction and exhaust mods will provide you with increased performance and also show you better mileage by making the motor more efficent.

I've been told that the new aluminum heads for this motor will show a mileage increase also but that is a bigger bolt-on mod  I'll report my results after they go on.
