Finally got my new truck!!! It is a '04 Chevy 2500HD CC SB LT with the 8.1/Ally! Got a smokin deal! Got it for invoice plus $5500 in rebates! Couldn't pass it up! Can't wait to get the 500 miles on it so I can try it out with my boat!!

What all is supposed to be changed at the 500 mile breakin point? I know oil and filter but was about the tranny filter and diff lube?

Not sure about the Tranny but in 04 they started using Synthetic in the diffs. Shouldn't need to change tranny or diff. I switched to synthetic in the motor at 1200.

Yeah, the mirrors are pretty cool, looking forward to trying them with the boat! But, they don't seem to be the most solid sounding units.. When you move them out your not sure if they are going to make it.. I guess time will tell..

I was talking to one of the shop managers here in VA (friend of a friend) about the break in period for these trucks. If you can hold out about 1000 or more miles then you will have much better luck with your rear end. I found out the metal is soft and daily use tempers the metal so you will not have a spline break lose on ya. He also suggested flushing my diff's once I hit about 5k just to be on the safe side even though it is synthetic.
